Clogged sewers no more with this maintenence guidebook and required plan

Clogging of drains is a common occurrence in most households. The bathtub, shower, sink or the toilet is flooded with water in case of a complete drain blockage. Blockages needs to be removed to release water and there are chances that the homeowner will not be able to do it using normal methods or drain products that are meant for household use. And of course, a plumber fixing your clogged drain can cost you heavily. It will cost more if the blockages are severe or extensive. When most of your drains get choked up all the time, thoughts of preventive drain inspection will cross your mind.

What are causes of blocking of drains?.

Carelessness is the prime cause of clogged drains. To prevent your kitchen drain from getting clogged, the drain strainer should be used regularly to pull off the food particles from the drain. These food scraps buildup inside the pipework, causing blockage. Cooking oils and grease aggravate potential clogs by lining the pipes. Too much toilet paper flushed down the toilet invariably causes drain blockage.

In order to avoid clogging of toilet drains items that are not meant for toilets should not be flushed into it. Sanitary towels and baby nappies can choke up a toilet immediately or after some time. Clogging of bathtubs, bathroom sinks and showers occur if your hair is trapped and accumulates in the pipes. Other things like soaps, shampoos, hair gel, toothpaste, etc intensify the clogging problem since they tend to accumulate and build up, thus adding to the block.

There can also be times when the things you put in the drains are not responsible for the blockage. Pipes can rust over time, roots can make their way in and drains can be damaged externally – all these can also jam up your drainage.

In case of a clogged drain, here are few things that you can do.

You can attempt to clear clogged drains yourself by using acids or other chemical products designed for this purpose. These chemicals, however, can actually be harmful to your pipes, your fixtures, your health and the environment. Fortunately, some natural ways can eliminate those hazardous chemicals. Running boiling water through the drains regularly is one natural method available. Another involves the utilisation of vinegar and baking soda. Just run some vinegar into the stubborn drain before sprinkling it with baking soda. Before pouring the boiling water over the mixture let it sit in the drain for about 15 minutes to clear the blockage.

The easiest maintenance method is to keep inspecting your drain pipes regularly and prevent problems rather than facing a problem later.

Your pipework is a working system that needs maintenance, just like your car or machinery. Similar to all your possessions, it also needs constant examination and ongoing maintenance. Be familiar with the behavior of your drains, monitor their functioning and carry out regular inspections. To avoid the situation of an extremely clogged drain you should get your whole drainage system inspected by a professional drains contractor on a regular basis. It is advisable to have a plumber “snake” all of your drainpipes at least roughly once a year, as a means of preventing blockages. If your pipes are particularly prone to becoming blocked or you experience frequent drain clogging, it might be advisable to have your drainpipes snaked on a more regular basis. CCTV surveillance should be employed every now and again for important pipe connections.

Regular expert inspection of your drainage system can ensure that your pipes (and not your pockets) are completely drained and cleaned out!.
