Do not create drain problems with a badly designed drainage system
Drain pipes carry waste effluent from your fixtures down to the sewage system. In sewer systems from houses, pipes are laid in between inspection chambers. There should not be any clogging if the system cleans itself. This is achieved by having the correct gradients. UPVC tubing is often adopted in modern systems. It is essential to test the drainage system properly before allowing its use. The tests must be conducted in between the inspection chambers to allow each part of the system to be thoroughly checked.
Drainage pipes must be placed in trenches. Depth averages between thirty and fifty centimeters. When the system passes below a parking, walkways or driveways, it is encased in concrete. To begin laying the lines, first excavate the trenches to the necessary depths. Levels should be graded in the direction of the sewers or tanks. Maintain a slope of one in four for the excavated channels. The trench bottoms are well compacted and rammed. In order to strengthen the bottom of the trench, fasten it and fix it.
Set drain pipes straight and directly in line with one another. Sockets that lead uphill or in the direction of the building must be used for joining the separate pipes. The system should lie on a solid and even ground. Male and female sockets can be interlaced by using a good binding material at the joints. When using the adhesive, the manufacturer’s instructions should be followed. Ensure that the pipe goes into the full wall thickness during connection to the various inspection chambers. Clean any debris from the pipes.
Inspect and scrutinise the drainage pipes while laying them. This is to ensure they are not punctured. All socket recesses have to be adequately formed in the foundation. Keep them short where possible. The inlet and outlet points must be evened out and marked appropriately. The system is then buried beneath soil when all the joints have been finished and checked. Link the system to the septic tank. After this connect to the utilities to complete the drainage.
